IN ABSENTIA is a New York based production company focused on nurturing and developing new work through readings, residencies, workshops and further opportunities.

 Is the current General Manager of Primary Stages and served as the Managing Director of About Face Theatre in Chicago from 2015 -2018. Before that he served as general manager of Second Stage Theatre from 2011–13, overseeing new shows like Water by the Spoonful, All New People, and Dogfight, as well as revivals of How I Learned to Drive and The Last Five Years. Previously, he worked on the general management teams for the global productions of Wicked and Jersey Boys. He has brought new works such as ‘til Divorce Do Us Part, Peninsula, Hell’s Belles and (Mary) Todd to the stage as an independent producer and manager. He serves on the board of directors for the Off-Broadway League as the secretary and chair of the marketing committee. Carpenter worked in the consumer advertising industry before finding his way to the theatre. He earned an undergraduate degree in theatre from Northwestern University, and a MFA in theatre management and producing from Columbia University.

Nathan Wright

Is a playwright and director. He directed Charles Gershman’s The Waiting Game at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe (Winner Best Overseas Production) and again in 2019 off-Broadway at 59E59 Theatres. As a playwright, he has written Manifesto: The Diaghilev Project and collaborated with Rachel Chavkin and the TEAM in writing Architecting (Winner 2008 Edinburgh Fringe First Award, Public Theatre Under the Radar). His other plays include Peninsula (Winner 2013 NYC Fringe), Naked Fish (Winner 2007 Theatre Masters National Playw≠riting Award), Lake Full of Iron; Sky Full of Hope (Card Table Theatre, Lawrence, KS) and HomoRapture (Kenyon College). Additionally, he has translated Russian playwright Katia Rubina’s Family Happiness (O’Neil Playwright’s Center). He received his MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University School of the Arts.

Andrea K.W. Brown

Is passionate about live theater as a means to bring people of all backgrounds together to bond in a common experience. She believes in the importance of new artistic works as a means for audiences to expand their horizons and for new stories and talent to be heard and seen, and has focused her energies on their support and promotion for decades.
